United Airlines Boeing 767-322ER | wikipedia

The Houston Rockets currently travel across the country for games using a Boeing 767-322ER private jet. This choice of aircraft, registered as N625HR, serves the team as it competes in the NBA's Western Conference, where they hold the number two position and have secured a playoff spot.

Originally a commercial plane for United Airlines, the Boeing 767 was delivered in 1992 and has since gone through several operators, including OceanAir, AeroGal, and Asia Atlantic Airways. The aircraft, line number 449, was previously configured with a dense seating layout. However, now used by the Rockets, it features an entirely redesigned interior.

The Boeing 767 provides enough space to accommodate more than just the players. With teams comprising players, coaches, and support staff, over 50 individuals typically travel together for games. The Rockets' aircraft includes modifications such as updated sidewalls, larger overhead bins, leather recliners arranged for comfort, and amenities like lie-flat seats and entertainment screens. Wi-Fi and a small bedroom further enhance the travel experience.

The exterior of N625HR is marked with a simple livery featuring white with gold and black stripes and the Houston Rockets' logo. Crews are supplied by iAero Airways, and the aircraft occasionally transports the Houston Astros baseball team.

In addition to the Boeing 767, the Houston Rockets' owner, Tilman Fertitta, has other jets bearing the team's livery, including a 2015 Gulfstream G650ER. Fertitta, a billionaire who also owns restaurants and casinos, has a history of owning multiple private jets.

Three other NBA teams also own private jets: the Dallas Mavericks with a Boeing 757-200, the Los Angeles Lakers with a Gulfstream G550, and the Golden State Warriors. Most NBA teams, however, partner with Delta Air Lines, which provides 11 Boeing 757 aircraft for team transport.

The NBA plans to replace its aging aircraft with new Airbus A321neos starting soon, with leasing arrangements in place. For now, the Houston Rockets continue to enjoy their private jet as they compete across the league.
