Asiana Airlines, in a schedule update, announced the increase of its Airbus A380 winter flights from Seoul Incheon to Los Angeles, transitioning from a daily to a twice-daily operation. This change provides 184 more seats per flight, including more premium class seats. Previously, the airline utilized an A350-900 for these flights.

The carrier also confirmed that the summer double-daily superjumbo operation will continue, possibly utilizing aircraft that will stop flying to New York JFK at the end of September.

The acquisition of Asiana by Korean Air is expected to conclude in 2027, leading to the eventual disappearance of the Asiana brand. In preparation, the two airlines are planning four daily superjumbo services between Seoul and Los Angeles for the upcoming northern aviation winter season, although this remains subject to change.

Despite Los Angeles not being among the top 10 airports globally for widebody flights, Asiana has served the city twice daily on the A380 since 2014. The airline's flight schedule submitted to Cirium Diio indicates the increased frequency will be maintained throughout the winter of 2025/2026.

In the 12 months leading up to July 2024, there were 553,000 round-trip point-to-point passengers between Seoul Incheon and Los Angeles. Air Premia, Asiana, and Korean Air are the three airlines serving this route, with the latest winter 2025/2026 data revealing six daily flights combined.

Asiana's 2025/2026 winter schedule maintains two daily A380 departures between Seoul Incheon and Los Angeles: one at 14:40 and another at 20:40. Meanwhile, other carriers, like Air Premia and Korean Air, continue their operations on the route.

The airline's summer operations include three daily A380 flights to various destinations, including Hong Kong, Los Angeles, New York JFK, and Taipei Taoyuan. Notably, the Seoul-Taipei route is listed as the world's shortest regularly scheduled A380 service. Following a change in plans, the Taipei service on the superjumbo will continue until August 31.

For the upcoming winter, Asiana's only scheduled A380 route is to Los Angeles, while regular flights last year included destinations like Bangkok, Sydney, Taipei, and Tokyo, plus time-limited services to Barcelona and Frankfurt.
