Delta Air Lines is set to expand its Caribbean offerings with new flights to Grenada and St Vincent from its Atlanta hub starting in December. These additions mark Delta's return to Grenada after a five-year absence and the airline's inaugural service to St Vincent.

Delta's schedule indicates plans for 62 Caribbean routes from eight key locations, including Atlanta, Boston, Detroit, and Miami, in December. The service to St Vincent will commence on December 20, making it the first time the country has been connected via Delta's Atlanta flights. The only flights to serve St Vincent will address a market that had about 2,000 round-trip passengers in 2024. Delta aims to capitalize on Atlanta's connectivity to fill seats.

Flights to Grenada, which Delta last served in March 2020, will also resume on December 20. Grenada will become Delta’s second-longest Caribbean route from Atlanta, after Barbados. Both new services will leverage the carrier's vast network of connections available through its Atlanta operations.

Flight frequency to these destinations will start daily, reducing to five weekly from early January. Delta plans to operate these routes with 737-800 aircraft, with both destinations sharing similar departure and arrival schedules to optimize connections.

Delta's broader Caribbean network will see 24 routes flying from Atlanta in December. A snapshot shows 20 routes will have at least daily service, while some will have up to triple-daily operations. Prominent routes include service to destinations like San Juan, Montego Bay, and Nassau, where Delta maintains significant passenger volumes.

The Department of Transportation noted last year, the Atlanta-San Juan route alone carried 566,000 round-trip passengers out of 616,000 available seats, indicating a high occupancy rate. Major connecting cities for these passengers included Los Angeles, Minneapolis, and Austin.

Delta's upcoming Caribbean expansion underscores its robust strategy to connect the region through its main hub in Atlanta, potentially boosting travel during the high-demand Christmas period.
