Cathay has released its 2024 Sustainability Report, showcasing its advancements in sustainable development. The report highlights the group's ongoing commitment to sustainability as it transitions into a new phase of growth, with sustainability efforts remaining central to its strategy.

Chief Executive Officer Ronald Lam stated, "Having successfully completed our two-year rebuilding journey, we have now set our sights on growth and development, where sustainability remains an area where we aspire to lead and is at the forefront of our path forward."

The airline's environmental initiatives focus on climate change and a circular economy. Cathay aims to expand the use of sustainable aviation fuel (SAF) globally, acknowledging both challenges and opportunities. It also seeks to adopt responsible resource usage by minimizing single-use plastics and exploring alternative packaging. Lam emphasized the company's commitment to the Hong Kong community, saying, "Beyond our environmental efforts, we remain committed to our deep roots in Hong Kong, enriching our communities through youth, sports, and arts initiatives while setting our sights on future growth by attracting, developing and retaining a strong pipeline of global talent."

- Progress in advancing a circular economy by reducing passenger-facing single-use plastic items and setting targets for increased inflight recycling and use of recycled plastics. Cathay Pacific has implemented a workflow for recycling plastic bottles and cans at Hong Kong International Airport.

- The rejuvenation of the I Can Fly youth development program, marking its 20th anniversary with expanded initiatives in the Greater Bay Area.

The report, which details Cathay’s sustainability initiatives, is available for public access. Further information on Cathay's sustainability efforts can be found on their website.
