The West Kowloon Cultural District Authority (WKCDA) has announced the launch of a video series titled "WestK in the Sky," created in collaboration with its exclusive Travel Partner, Cathay. The series became available from April 1, 2025, on Cathay Pacific's in-flight entertainment system, with the aim to promote the arts and cultural scene of Hong Kong to a global audience.

The initiative is part of a three-year partnership established in 2023 between WestK and Cathay. It underscores a shared commitment to elevate Hong Kong's cultural standing on the international stage. Through these videos, passengers aboard Cathay Pacific flights can explore artistic narratives from venues such as the Hong Kong Palace Museum, M+, and WestK’s Performing Arts Division.

Betty Fung, Chief Executive Officer of WKCDA, expressed gratitude for Cathay's support, stating, “WestK attracts more than 10 million visitors from around the world every year and we look forward to welcoming even more global audiences through Cathay Pacific's extensive passenger network.”

The video series consists of six episodes opening with "A Unique Cultural Mission," featuring host Do Do Cheng and highlighting the collaborative efforts between WestK and Cathay. Other episodes include tours of the Hong Kong Palace Museum and M+, a fashion journey through centuries of French fashion with Karen Mok, and an exploration of the M+ Facade, a prominent digital display in Hong Kong.

Ronald Lam, Cathay Group Chief Executive Officer, emphasized the collaboration's role in promoting Hong Kong's cultural development and said, “The collaboration not only allows us to highlight the allure of Hong Kong through compelling storytelling, but also underscores Cathay’s vital role in promoting the long-term and sustainable development of Hong Kong’s arts and culture."

The "WestK in the Sky" series aims not just to enhance awareness about Hong Kong’s cultural initiatives but also to cement the city’s reputation as a hub for cultural exchange between East and West.
