Delta Air Lines has decided to discontinue its Orlando to London route, which it introduced in 2024. This move leaves fewer travel options between these popular cities. The airline's exit means that British Airways, Virgin Atlantic, and Norse Atlantic Airways will serve the route during the winter season.

The aviation analytics company Cirium’s Diio Mi reports that Delta Air Lines has canceled its four weekly flights between Orlando International Airport (MCO) and London Heathrow Airport (LHR). These flights, which started in November 2024, had an average occupancy rate of 69.93%.

As a result, there will be 20 weekly flights from Orlando to London in November. British Airways and Norse Atlantic have scheduled flights to London Gatwick Airport (LGW), offering daily and thrice-weekly services, respectively. Virgin Atlantic will provide ten weekly flights to Heathrow from Orlando. During the same period in 2024, these airlines recorded an average load factor of 86.31%, with Delta having the lowest.

The abandonment of the route was part of Delta's broader strategy to adjust its transatlantic network. The airline will continue to operate flights from Orlando and Tampa to Amsterdam Schiphol Airport during 2025. Delta's Senior Vice President Matteo Curcio stated, “Floridians can explore London’s historic landmarks like Buckingham Palace and enjoy world-class dining, while Londoners can escape to the sunny beaches and world-famous attractions of Orlando.”

Delta initially served the Orlando-London route with an Airbus A330-900, flying four times weekly. Despite this suspension, Delta continues to operate other European routes, though with some capacity adjustments announced for March 2026. Notable reductions include cuts from New York-JFK to Rome, Venice, and other European cities, alongside Atlanta to Barcelona adjustments.

In its recent report, Delta, under CEO Ed Bastian, has adjusted its growth strategy amidst economic uncertainties. Capacity growth for the latter half of 2025 will remain flat compared to the previous year.
