Etihad Airways has announced the launch of daily flights from Abu Dhabi to Taipei, set to commence on September 7, 2025. The announcement was made via an X post on April 7.

According to Etihad Airways, this new route is part of the airline's strategy to expand its network and strengthen business and tourism ties between the United Arab Emirates and Taiwan. The initiative reflects Etihad's commitment to enhancing global connectivity.

In 2023, Taiwan saw approximately 5.1 million foreign visitor arrivals, indicating a significant recovery in international tourism. This resurgence highlights Taiwan's growing appeal as a travel destination and the increasing demand for enhanced air connectivity. Etihad's new route aligns with this trend, offering travelers more options to explore Taiwan's cultural and natural attractions.

Etihad Airways reported a record profit of $476 million in 2024, up from $143 million in 2023. This financial growth is attributed to a 32% rise in passenger numbers, reaching 18.5 million, and a 24% increase in cargo revenues, totaling $1.1 billion. An Associated Press report states that these figures underscore the airline's successful recovery and expansion strategies.

Established in 2003 by royal decree, Etihad Airways is the national airline of the United Arab Emirates and is headquartered in Abu Dhabi. The airline operates over 1,000 flights per week to more than 120 passenger and cargo destinations across various regions including the Middle East, Africa, Europe, Asia, Australia, and North America. As of January 2024, Etihad's fleet consists of 97 Airbus and Boeing aircraft.
