Finnair has announced plans to expand its services in the Nordic region with new flights to Alta and Tromsø, scheduled for summer 2026. The announcement was made on the social media platform X on April 9.

According to Business Traveller, Finnair is broadening its Nordic network by adding flights to Rovaniemi in Finnish Lapland, as well as Tromsø and Trondheim in Norway, for the upcoming winter season. This strategic move aims to meet growing demand for travel to northern destinations, particularly during peak seasons. The additional flights are expected to offer travelers more options and flexibility when planning trips to these regions.

As reported by Simple Flying, Finnair’s new "Arctic Express" service will connect Helsinki with Rovaniemi and Tromsø, marking the first direct link between the two cities. The service is scheduled to begin on December 2, operating twice weekly on Thursdays and Saturdays with 68-seat ATR 72 aircraft. This initiative is expected to improve accessibility to Arctic destinations for both leisure and business travelers.

The airline will operate flights from Helsinki to Kirkenes via Ivalo three times a week using 68-seat ATR aircraft. This expansion aims to strengthen Finnair's presence in Northern Norway and offer travelers more options to explore the Arctic region.

Operating from its hub at Helsinki Airport, the airline specializes in connecting Europe and Asia via the shortest route in the Northern Hemisphere.
