Private jet travel has experienced significant growth in the United States, especially during the COVID-19 pandemic when wealthy individuals opted for private flights to ensure proper social distancing. Although the pandemic resulted in a temporary decrease in overall travel, private jet flights have continued on an upward trend since 2019.

According to Private Jet Card Comparisons, 2024 witnessed over 3 million private jet flights in the US, marking a slight decline from the 3.12 million flights recorded in 2023. This represents a year-over-year decrease of about 1%. Despite this, top private jet providers have maintained a prominent presence in the industry.

NetJets stands out as the largest private jet provider globally. In 2024, the company logged 665,000 flight hours, capturing a 12.70% market share. This reflects a 9.16% increase from 2023's nearly 610,000 flight hours. The company, founded in 1964, pioneered the fractional ownership program in 1987, allowing clients to share aircraft ownership.

Flexjet, the second-largest provider, achieved 237,800 flight hours in 2024, securing a 4.5% market share. This signifies a 16.10% increase from 2023. Originally founded as Bombardier Aerospace's executive segment, Flexjet has secured a significant order with Embraer worth $7 billion and operates a diverse fleet, including Bombardier and Gulfstream aircraft.

VistaJet ranks third with 127,310 flight hours in 2024. Although it experienced a slight decline from 2023, the Malta-based company continues to maintain a global presence. Founded by Thomas Flohr in 2004, VistaJet offers two services, Program and Direct, rather than relying on fractional ownership.

Wheels Up, the fourth-largest provider, recorded just over 96,000 flight hours in 2024, facing a 25% decrease from the previous year. Founded in 2013, the company offers membership and on-demand chartered flights. In 2023, Delta Air Lines acquired Wheels Up, aiming for profitability under new leadership.

FlyExclusive, the fifth-largest provider, saw a 16.31% increase with 64,215 flight hours in 2024. Founded by Jim Segrave in 2014, the company provides various options, including fractional ownership and on-demand charters. The fleet mainly consists of Cessna Citation jets, with plans to expand.

Solairus Aviation, based in California, logged over 53,000 flight hours in 2024, marking an 8% increase from 2023. Founded in 2009, the company offers aircraft management and a popular Altitude jet card option.
