Cathay Pacific Airlines plans to offer both 100% seatback inflight entertainment and high-speed inflight connectivity across its entire fleet by August 2025. This move aims to enhance passenger experience on all flights and supports the company’s vision of becoming a leading premium airline.

Guillaume Vivet, Cathay Pacific’s General Manager of Customer Experience Design, stated: "This major milestone is a testament to Cathay Pacific’s enduring focus on innovation and customer-first design. We know how much our customers value excellent entertainment options and dependable connectivity while traveling. Whether they are flying for business or leisure, our guests will soon enjoy award-winning entertainment and seamless Wi-Fi on every flight—enhancing their journey to be as memorable as the destination itself."

The airline has a history of investing in digital innovations to improve travel experiences. Starting with seatback inflight entertainment (IFE) in 1992, Cathay Pacific has added new features such as 4K high dynamic range (HDR) displays.

Sharon Petersen, CEO of AirlineRatings.com, commented: "It’s inspiring to see a world-class airline like Cathay Pacific making such a strong comeback and aiming to reclaim its position as the world’s best airline. The airline faced an exceptionally challenging period, being one of the last in Asia to maintain a strict ‘zero-COVID’ policy while operating a wholly international route network. At one point, passenger numbers were down by 99%—a truly staggering impact."

Petersen also noted that the convenience of consistent inflight connectivity and entertainment is valued by travelers: "There’s something incredibly reassuring about boarding a flight and knowing you can stay connected or enjoy inflight entertainment. It removes so much of the pre-departure stress—whether you’re a business traveler racing to meet deadlines or just making sure you’ve downloaded content to your phone. It’s that extra level of convenience and peace of mind that today’s travelers really value."

Cathay Pacific's advancements in inflight entertainment have been recognized with various awards, including the German Design Award, Red Dot Award, and the Crystal Cabin Awards. These honors were partly due to the airline's cutting-edge "IFEC: In-flight Entertainment & Control" system.

Cathay Pacific also provides exclusive branded content in its inflight entertainment library. First and Business class travelers, as well as Cathay Diamond members, will receive free Wi-Fi access on all flights. The new developments promise a tailored and exceptional travel experience for passengers.
