Air New Zealand has revealed a new uniform collection designed by Emilia Wickstead, featuring hand-painted prints by tā moko artist Te Rangitu Netana. The collection marks a significant shift for the airline, embracing New Zealand's unique cultural heritage.

Greg Foran, Air New Zealand's Chief Executive, emphasized the importance of the new attire. "For us, this is more than just a uniform. It is a celebration of our people, our culture, and our values. Air New Zealand has never been about standing still or blending in." He expressed that the uniform represents the airline's commitment to innovation and cultural heritage.

Designer Emilia Wickstead described the project as deeply personal. "Designing the Air New Zealand uniform has been an incredibly personal project for me," said Wickstead. She aimed to create a meaningful narrative and instill pride among the wearers. "I wanted to create a uniform that empowers individuals and inspires pride in all who wear it and see it," she added.

Te Rangitu Netana contributed intricate prints that embody Aotearoa's traditions. "Each print is a story, deeply rooted in the traditions and values of Aotearoa," said Netana. The designs aim to authentically represent Māori culture on a global stage.

The collection includes several distinctive pieces, such as 'The Fine Print – Dress' and 'The Collective Thread – Shirt'. Pasifika team members will trial the Ie Faitaga, demonstrating the airline's dedication to inclusivity.

The new uniforms will be trialed in May 2025, with a full rollout planned for 2026. Air New Zealand is also committed to sustainability, incorporating recycled polyester and organic cotton into the uniforms.
