American Airlines has announced the resumption of daily nonstop service between Los Angeles International Airport (LAX) and Pittsburgh International Airport, effective April 4. The announcement was made via a post on X on the same date.

According to WTAE Pittsburgh, this marks the first time since 2017 that American Airlines has offered daily nonstop flights between Pittsburgh and Los Angeles. The decision follows a decade of lobbying by the Pittsburgh Film Office and other business sectors to reestablish this route. The return of the service is expected to enhance connectivity for both business and leisure travelers.

As reported by Blue Sky News, Flight AA814 will depart from LAX at 9 a.m. Pacific Time, arriving in Pittsburgh at 4:37 p.m. Eastern Time. The return flight will leave Pittsburgh at 5:57 p.m. Eastern Time, reaching LAX at 8:05 p.m. Pacific Time. The route will be serviced by Boeing 737-800 aircraft, offering increased capacity compared to previous operations.

According to CBS News Pittsburgh, the reintroduction of this route is anticipated to benefit the Pittsburgh region's economy, particularly the film and television industry, which has contributed over $2.5 billion to the local economy. The nonstop flight is expected to facilitate easier access for production companies considering projects in southwestern Pennsylvania. Additionally, the service will provide convenient connections to destinations across the Pacific, including Hawaii, Australia, and New Zealand.
