Long nonstop flights from US airports often reach impressive distances without involving US-based carriers. The majority of these flights are operated by foreign airlines. As of April, the United States will host 26 outbound routes that span at least 8,000 miles, with only three operated by US carriers.

Nine flights from the US will cover distances over 8,500 miles. Carriers such as Singapore Airlines, Qantas, Air New Zealand, Air India, and Philippine Airlines lead these routes. The longest are Singapore Airlines' flights from Singapore to New York JFK Airport and Newark Liberty International Airport, at over 9,480 miles each. Thirty of these flights are scheduled for April, each with a seating capacity of 4,830. These routes represent the longest planned nonstop commercial flights worldwide, with Qatar Airways' Auckland flight as the next longest over 9,000 miles.

On the list of the longest United States outbound flights, Qantas’ flight from Dallas/Fort Worth to Melbourne covers 8,973 miles, and New York-JFK to Auckland follows closely behind at 8,813 miles, serviced both by Air New Zealand and Qantas.

Singapore Airlines uses the Airbus A350-900ULR, allowing a reach of up to 9,700 nautical miles, emphasizing its status as the longest-range commercial aircraft available. Among other significant routes, Air India's Boeing 777-200LR flight from San Francisco to Bengaluru spans 8,691 miles, and Qantas' Dallas to Sydney flight covers 8,569 miles.

Scheduled routes from the US range from 8,000 to over 9,000 miles, often dominated by foreign airlines. United Airlines and Delta Air Lines are among the few US carriers operating long-haul routes, such as Delta's flights to Johannesburg and Cape Town. Notably, as flights approach distances of 8,000 miles, aircraft like the Boeing 777-300ER become increasingly common. In total, 26 US-originating routes exceed 8,000 miles.

Scheduled international flights are concentrated at major airports: New York-JFK with six destinations, followed by San Francisco, Los Angeles, and Dallas/Fort Worth. Other significant locations include Houston-Intercontinental and Atlanta.

Air travel enthusiasts track long-range flights as airlines await technological advancements for extended non-stops like Qantas' planned direct Sydney-New York-JFK and London-Heathrow flights, pending the delivery of Airbus A350-1000 aircraft.
