Finnair is making noteworthy strides in the Europe-United States aviation market. The airline's US operations have grown by 35% year-on-year, according to Cirium data, overshadowing several larger carriers. This growth is attributed to increasing frequencies on existing routes and opening new ones, although no new US routes were added in 2025. As Cirium highlights, while Finnair has the highest growth in percentage terms, smaller airlines usually find it easier to achieve larger percentage increases due to a lower base of operations.

Several airlines have demonstrated robust growth between Europe and the US. Finnair stands out with a 35% increase, followed by Neos at 30%, then Iberia, Aer Lingus, and others with varied growth rates. Cirium reports that Neos initiated a new Bari to New York JFK route, Iberia began service between Madrid and Orlando, and Aer Lingus added flights from Dublin to Nashville and Indianapolis.

Finnair's schedule filings reveal the addition of about 600 more flights in 2025, increasing nearly 200,000 seats. Its US routes include New York JFK, Miami, Seattle, Los Angeles, Chicago, and Dallas, with all routes experiencing some level of growth. The Seattle route saw the largest relative increase at 110%, while Dallas had the highest absolute growth with additional flights.

The average load factor for Finnair's US-bound flights was reported at 79% over the past year. Seattle led with an 85% occupancy rate, followed by Miami, Chicago, New York, Dallas, and Los Angeles at 76%. Capacity increases are likely driven by the airline's performance on these routes. Finnair’s growth reflects ongoing opportunities in the transatlantic market, and its focus on expanding US offerings may continue to bolster its standing in the competitive aviation landscape.
