Milan Linate Airport | Official Website

Milan Linate Airport, the closest airport to Milan's city center, has long been favored by business travelers due to its strategic location. In 2024, it served over 10.6 million passengers and recorded more than 110,000 aircraft movements, maintaining its reputation as one of Italy's busiest airports.

Despite being the third-busiest airport in terms of passenger numbers in Milan, it ranks second for aircraft movements. This underscores its reliance on frequent, low-capacity flights to business hubs across Europe. Alongside Milan Malpensa and Milan Bergamo Airports, Linate forms part of an airport system that handles over 56.9 million passengers annually.

Milan Linate Airport has a direct link to Milan's city center via the Milan Metro's Line 4, taking just 15 minutes. Local bus and coach services further enhance its connectivity, making it a preferred choice for time-sensitive business travelers over the more remote Milan Malpensa and Bergamo airports, which have less effective public transport connections.

ITA Airways has a major hub at Milan Linate, capitalizing on the airport's proximity to the city center to serve domestic and short-haul international routes, catering to business and high-spending leisure travelers. In addition to serving key domestic routes, ITA Airways connects Milan with European destinations, benefiting from Linate's efficient transportation links.

easyJet, a low-cost carrier, also operates from Milan Linate, using its strategic location to offer quick access to the city center. While Linate can be more costly to operate from than Bergamo or Malpensa, its punctual operations and excellent transport connections make it a valuable base for easyJet, despite flight slot restrictions.

The most heavily traveled route from Milan Linate is to Rome's Fiumicino Airport, with over a million passengers annually. This route's popularity is driven by the business travel demand between Italy's two largest financial centers, as well as its role as a connection point for ITA Airways' intercontinental services from Rome.

The busiest international route from Milan Linate is to Paris Charles de Gaulle Airport, with annual passenger numbers exceeding 800,000. This route is heavily contested by ITA Airways and Air France, reflecting the strong business ties between these two European capitals.
