British Airways has temporarily halted its flights from London to Dallas, a route it has served since around 2000, excluding a brief pause during the pandemic. The termination of flights occurred on March 29, with plans to resume them in the upcoming winter season as supply chain issues are expected to ease. The final British Airways flight, BA192, departed London Heathrow (LHR) for Dallas/Fort Worth International Airport (DFW), marking a pause until winter.

On its return journey to London, the flight was disrupted when its Airbus A380 diverted to Boston Logan International Airport. The plane, registered as G-XLEG, made an unscheduled stop at 02:31 local time on March 30, yet it continued to London-Heathrow later that day without incident.

The decision to halt the Dallas route was announced by British Airways in November 2024, when the airline noted the changes would be temporary, spanning the summer season between March 30 and October 25. The airline cited its disappointment over disruptions caused by engine delivery delays from Rolls-Royce, particularly the Trent 1000 engines for Boeing 787 aircraft. The A380 aircraft used on the route also rely on Rolls-Royce Trent 900 engines.

British Airways has employed only the Airbus A380 for the London-Dallas route since July 2022, apart from a brief period in late 2024 when the Boeing 777-300ER was used. The airline explained the decision as a measure to provide customers certainty about flight schedules, while expressing regret over the disruption.

Amid these changes, American Airlines, also part of the oneworld alliance, remains committed to serving the London-Dallas route. The airline will maintain up to five daily departures between April and October, except for May when four departures are planned. British Airways is expected to resume operations in November using the Boeing 777-200ER, equipped with three classes of seating.

According to Cirium’s Diio Mi airline planning tool, British Airways is set to increase operations with its Boeing 787 fleet and the A380. The tool indicates that the number of British Airways’ Boeing 787 flights will increase by four (1.1% year-on-year) in April, alongside a rise in A380 weekly itineraries by 14.
