ITA Airways has announced the introduction of its Airbus A350-900, featuring an "Inspired by Alitalia" sticker as part of a branding campaign to honor the legacy of Italy's former national airline, Alitalia. This announcement was shared on X on April 10.

According to AirlineGeeks, ITA Airways unveiled the "Inspired by Alitalia" sticker on its Airbus A350-900 as part of a broader tribute to its predecessor, Alitalia. The campaign is intended to honor the former national airline of Italy, which ceased operations in 2021. The branding reflects ITA Airways' effort to balance the legacy of Italian aviation with its modern fleet and evolving identity.

As detailed by ITA Airways on its official sustainability page, the Airbus A350-900 is designed to reduce environmental impact while meeting high-performance standards. Made of 70% advanced materials, the aircraft is lighter, more fuel-efficient, and emits 25% less CO₂ than older models in its category. It also features a quieter cabin and a 40% reduction in external noise, aligning with the airline’s sustainability goals.

According to Aeronews Global, the "Inspired by Alitalia" sticker will appear on three aircraft in ITA Airways’ fleet: one Airbus A350-900 and two Airbus A320neo models. The first aircraft featuring the branding was unveiled in February 2025 and will operate long-haul routes where the airline aims to blend legacy with premium service. ITA Airways emphasized that the campaign is not a revival of Alitalia but a tribute to the cultural and emotional significance the name holds for Italian travelers.

As reported by AP News, ITA Airways—officially Italia Trasporto Aereo—was launched in October 2020 following the bankruptcy and closure of Alitalia. Owned by the Italian Ministry of Economy and Finance, the airline was created to serve as a leaner, more efficient national carrier. It began operations in October 2021 and has since adopted an all-Airbus fleet while working toward membership in the SkyTeam alliance.
