Delta Air Lines is one of the largest operators of the Airbus A319 in the United States. "Delta Air Lines is adding a nonstop flight between Salt Lake City International Airport and Southwest Florida International Airport in Fort Myers, Florida," as noted in the announcement. The carrier maintains a total of 57 A319s, which are known for their ability to handle medium-range routes lasting four to five hours.

Delta's expanded schedule reflects ongoing strategic planning as they add new routes well in advance to attract passengers. There are reports from The Points Guy indicating other new routes for Delta this winter, including flights from New York City's John F. Kennedy International Airport to Eagle County Regional Airport in Colorado and from LaGuardia Airport to Bozeman Yellowstone International Airport in Montana.

Southwest Florida International Airport, the destination for this new service, is the second busiest single-runway airport in the United States, drawing more than 10 million passengers annually. Its popularity spikes in the winter months, providing an advantageous market for airlines like Delta seeking to capitalize on leisure travel trends.

Delta is not only increasing its offerings but also celebrating the 30th anniversary of the first flight of the Airbus A319. While the aircraft continues to be a staple within major U.S. airlines, Delta, alongside American Airlines and United Airlines, remains a substantial operator of this aircraft type.
