Idaho Falls Regional Airport announced the introduction of direct flights to Chicago O'Hare International Airport by American Airlines. Starting August 6, these services will be operated using CRJ700 aircraft. The flights will provide connections to East Coast destinations and others from one of the airline's major hubs.
At a press conference on April 16, city and airport officials shared details about the daily non-stop service. The flights are scheduled to run until November 1, marking the first new route for American Airlines from Idaho Falls since 2021. The midday schedule aims to facilitate connections for travelers heading east and beyond.
Mayor Rebecca Casper expressed enthusiasm about the new service, noting that summer is a peak travel season for the airport. Joe Hughes, Managing Director of Government Affairs at American Airlines, remarked on the convenience the new flights will offer, with quicker travel times to cities such as New York, Washington, DC, London, and Barcelona.
