Air France has announced the expansion of its Airbus A320 flights to Brazil from its base in Cayenne, French Guiana, effectively doubling its routes in the South American country. The new service, which commenced on April 15, 2025, connects Cayenne with Fortaleza on a weekly basis.

The airline's initial venture into Brazil started in July 2022 with flights between Cayenne and Belém. This new addition links the two cities via a direct route that spans 976 nautical miles. Historical data shows that Azul, another airline, serviced this route from 2016 until 2020 with its E195 aircraft. After a five-year hiatus, Air France has reintroduced the nonstop service.

Flight schedules show that the Cayenne-Fortaleza route, coded AF608, operates on Tuesdays, departing at 13:05 and arriving at 16:00 local time. The return journey, labeled AF609, occurs on Wednesdays departing Fortaleza at 15:00 and landing in Cayenne at 17:50. The extended layover in Brazil facilitates connections for passengers traveling between the French Caribbean and Fortaleza.

Air France continues to utilize its A320 aircraft for regional routes, leveraging them for flights such as those between Pointe-à-Pitre, Fort-de-France, and Cayenne. These represent the bulk of the A320 operations in the geographical region. Additionally, services from Pointe-à-Pitre to destinations like Montreal and Punta Cana operate on a seasonal schedule, while year-round flights connect with Miami.

With the addition of the new service to Fortaleza, Air France now operates six routes to Brazil. Among them is the three-weekly service from Paris to Fortaleza, which supports additional connectivity due to its positioning as a unique destination with more than one Air France route in Brazil.

Air France’s presence in Brazil is part of its broader South American network. While the airline has maintained consistent service to certain key Brazilian cities from its hub at Paris Charles de Gaulle Airport, it has also historically adapted its service offerings, such as discontinuing its route to Brasília post-World Cup 2014.

For the rest of 2025, Air France's operational plans for Brazil include varied frequency services to São Paulo, Rio de Janeiro, and Salvador, utilizing aircraft such as the A350-900, 787-9, and various models of the Boeing 777.
