Claude Roussel, Vice President, Sky Clubs and Lounge Experience | Delta Air Lines

Delta Air Lines has launched a partnership with ride-sharing and delivery service Uber, offering its SkyMiles Members in the United States a new opportunity to earn miles through Uber and Uber Eats. The collaboration allows SkyMiles Members to link their accounts with Uber to receive mileage rewards on eligible spending.

From April 22, SkyMiles Members who joined the Uber waitlist receive early access to link their accounts. This feature will open to all customers from April 24. Once accounts are linked, members will earn varying miles for their Uber activities: 3 miles per eligible dollar on Uber Reserve trips, 2 miles on Uber Comfort and Uber Black rides, and 1 mile on UberX rides to and from airports. Additionally, a mile will be earned for each eligible dollar spent on Uber Eats orders of $40 or more for restaurant and grocery deliveries.

Prashant Sharma, Delta's Vice President of Loyalty, explained, "SkyMiles Membership is about giving Delta’s loyal customers more ways to earn even more miles, fly with more ease, and experience more of what really matters to them." He described the partnership as a means to enhance the value of loyalty for frequent fliers and introduce the program's benefits to new users.

Camiel Irving, Vice President of Operations and General Manager of Mobility at Uber in the US and Canada, emphasized the significance of this collaboration. "As 15% of all Uber trips either begin or end at an airport, we know that Uber is an integral part of the travel experience for millions of people," said Irving. The partnership is expected to provide a more integrated experience for travelers, converting their routine rides and deliveries into mile-earning opportunities.

To link accounts, users must ensure their Uber or Uber Eats app is updated, then follow instructions under 'Partner Rewards' in the app, selecting Delta SkyMiles to connect the accounts. This link allows them to start earning miles immediately.

Delta and Uber are further enhancing the airport experience through app-based navigation for pickups and drop-offs at Delta hubs, designed to streamline the travel process.

According to the conditions, eligible purchases exclude fees, interest charges, cash advances, and various cash-equivalent transactions, with miles being posted to accounts eight to twelve weeks after the end of each month.
