Ashley Kosciolek Senior cruise writer | The Points Guy

I experienced Cliffhanger, the latest ride on MSC World America, and found it unexpectedly enjoyable. Initially, I was seated on the ship's deck but soon swung through the air, soaring as Ocean Cay, MSC Cruises' private island in the Bahamas, faded from view.

"There's the dreamy white sand beaches, rows of colored houses and iconic red-and-white lighthouse," stated the writer, Belinda Luksic.

Cliffhanger allows up to four riders in two twin seats to be lifted above the ship in a one-minute flight 160 feet above the sea. "Don't be fooled by Cliffhanger's low-key appearance," Luksic asserted. The ride may seem gentle, but swinging out over the open ocean feels far from tame. It costs $5 for the experience.

Cliffhanger is part of Family Aventura, MSC World America's family entertainment zone, housed on Decks 19 and 20. It features waterslides, a rock climbing wall, a Formula One simulator, a Lego playroom, and arcade games. Adventurous visitors can also try the Adventure Trail, a ropes course on Deck 20, requiring a safety harness.

"Jaw Drop," another attraction in Family Aventura, is a dry slide plunging 11 stories from Deck 19 to Deck 8. Aquapark, a colorful maze of slides and splash zones, includes the VR Slide, which transports riders into animated landscapes.

The highlight of MSC World America, according to Luksic, is "Cliffhanger," which offers a nostalgic experience: "It hit that nostalgic nerve — like being 5 years old again, legs pumping on the playground swing."

MSC World America comprises seven districts filled with entertainment, but Cliffhanger stands out as the ultimate thrill. The ship offers a variety of cabins and suites for those planning a cruise.
