Constance von Muehlen Executive Vice President & Chief Operating Officer | Alaska Airlines

Alaska Airlines and Hawaiian Airlines are working together to co-locate their airport facilities at major airports including Los Angeles (LAX), New York (JFK), Phoenix (PHX), and San Francisco (SFO). This initiative aims to streamline operations and enhance the travel experience for their guests.

The partnership includes Hawaiian Airlines moving its operations to Alaska Airlines' terminals at LAX and JFK. This relocation aims to improve accessibility for passengers and strengthen connections with Alaska's oneworld alliance partners, offering premium lounge access and better guest experiences.

“We are committed to enhancing guest convenience to set the stage for future collaborative efforts that will benefit all our guests. These moves represent a significant step in that direction,” stated Celley Buchanan, Vice President of Operations and Customer Service at Alaska Airlines.

At LAX, Hawaiian Airlines has moved its check-in operations to Terminal 6, co-locating with Alaska Airlines to facilitate faster access between gates, ticket counters, and baggage claim. Hawaiian Airlines has also commenced operations at JFK’s Terminal 8, transitioning from Terminal 4 over several months. This move is set to enhance connectivity with Alaska's oneworld partners such as American Airlines and British Airways.

“The new long-term lease at Terminal 8 and our resulting move strengthen our commitment to enhancing the guest experience, improving employee spaces and driving better economic outcomes for our JFK operation. Terminal 8 is home to American Airlines — our long-standing oneworld partner — and this move demonstrates our shared commitment to delivering seamless connectivity for our guests. After two years of thoughtful evaluation, we’re excited to be closer to American and other global partners to better serve guests,” said Shane Jones, Senior Vice President of Fleet, Revenue Products and Real Estate at Alaska Airlines.

The collaboration with American Airlines enables First Class passengers on both Alaska and Hawaiian Airlines to access the Admirals Club at JFK’s Terminal 8, ensuring a premium travel experience. Hawaiian Airlines' First Class travelers can also use American’s Greenwich Flagship Lounge.

“We are thrilled to welcome our West Coast International Alliance and oneworld partner, Alaska Airlines and Hawaiian Airlines to Terminal 8. We continue to invest in JFK to enhance the travel experience for our customers and those of our partners like Alaska and Hawaiian, especially as we make progress on the redesign and expansion of the T8 concessions program, bringing new shops and restaurant options for customers to enjoy,” added Amanda Zhang, Vice President of Corporate Real Estate at American Airlines.

The co-location initiative started last year with Hawaiian relocating next to Alaska Airlines at San Francisco International Airport's newly renovated Harvey Milk Terminal 1, followed by Phoenix Sky Harbor International Airport. By the end of the year, Alaska and Hawaiian expect to extend their co-location efforts to Sacramento, Salt Lake City, and Las Vegas.

Alaska Air Group, the parent company of Alaska Airlines and Hawaiian Holdings, is based in Seattle. The group serves over 140 destinations across North America, Central America, Asia, and the Pacific. Alaska Airlines is part of the oneworld alliance, providing a wide range of travel and partnership options for its guests.
