Holland America Line has unveiled its planned itineraries for the 2027 Grand Voyage cruises. These lengthy journeys, lasting 70 or 129 days, offer numerous port stops and unique experiences not available on other itineraries operated by the cruise line.

The 129-day Grand World Voyage will begin its sailing from Fort Lauderdale on January 5, 2027. This journey encompasses a complete circumnavigation of the globe, a change from the 2026 plan, which featured a double crossing of the Pacific Ocean, reaching Australia and Asia but without a transatlantic crossing, transit through the Suez Canal, or any stops in Europe. The plan for 2027 allows for deeper exploration in Asia, highlighted by visits to six ports in Japan.

Holland America's decision for the 2027 voyage reflects a return to earlier cruise patterns, as described by the company: “something its guests have been asking for.” This reiteration to a full circumnavigation comes after the 2025 Grand World Voyage was rerouted due to security concerns around the Red Sea, although it still managed to include Mediterranean ports.

Another journey, the 70-day Grand Voyage, will begin on January 3, 2027, from Fort Lauderdale, navigating through the Panama Canal and along the west coast of South America, before venturing to Chile and entering the Drake Passage for a four-day trip to Antarctica. Following this, the itinerary includes stops in Brazil and the Caribbean before returning to Florida.

For the 2027 voyages, the Zaandam will undertake the 129-day Grand World Voyage, and the Volendam will take on the 70-day Grand Voyage. Both vessels are smaller in size, accommodating 1,432 passengers, which permits inclusion of ports that cannot host larger ships. In 2025, Holland America is utilizing the Zuiderdam, which hosts 1,916 passengers, for the Grand World Voyage.

The new ports for 2027 include Jamestown on Saint Helena and Georgetown on Ascension Island. Located in the South Atlantic Ocean, these destinations are seldom visited due to limited flight access and, in Ascension Island’s case, an absence of a commercial airport.

The journeys focus on cultural and historical themes, sometimes in cooperation with The History Channel, as Holland America emphasizes the educational aspect of its itineraries.

“A program that Holland America announced in February 2025” accentuates these themes throughout the voyage. Long voyages create an environment where passengers can form friendships with fellow travelers and crew, setting a comforting atmosphere.

Holland America offers a range of onboard events and activities to engage passengers for the Grand World Voyage. Past experiences included themed parties and holiday events with specialized activities and entertainments led by notable chefs and entertainers.

In promoting the new itineraries, Holland America is providing incentives for early bookings, including up to $2,000 in onboard credit, a 3% discount on full payments, and complimentary Wi-Fi. Booking through the Flight Ease program may also offer a $500 flight credit with complimentary transfers. Further benefits for upgraded cabins involve free services and gratuities.

The commitment to prolonged cruising with Holland America entails potential gains through its loyalty program, with a minimum of 70 days needed to reach 3-Star Mariner Society membership status.

Prices for the 2027 Grand World Voyage and 70-day Grand Voyage are anticipated to be available starting in May. In comparison, the 2026 Grand World Voyage was priced from $29,999 for an interior cabin, and a 72-day voyage began at $17,279.
