Alaska Airlines has announced the introduction of new nonstop services from San Diego to Phoenix, commencing on August 20. Additional daily flights to Chicago O’Hare and Denver will begin on October 4. This information was shared in a post on X.

According to Alaska Airlines’ official newsroom, the airline is launching these three new nonstop routes as part of a 30% increase in overall flight capacity from San Diego. The expansion will make San Diego Alaska’s second-largest city for departures, with 52 peak-day departures expected by the end of the year.

As reported by NBC San Diego, Alaska Airlines and its affiliate Hawaiian Airlines will now serve 44 nonstop destinations from San Diego International Airport—more than any other carrier. The new services aim to enhance connectivity across key business and leisure markets, including Florida, Mexico, and Hawaii. This expansion aligns with Alaska’s broader strategy to strengthen its regional travel presence from Southern California.

According to Business Traveler USA, the new routes will utilize a combination of Boeing 737s and Embraer 175 jets, providing flexibility for both short- and medium-haul travel. Additionally, Alaska is increasing frequency on existing West Coast routes from San Diego, including flights to Seattle, Portland, and San Jose starting October 26. The service targets business travelers seeking improved flight times and more seamless connections.

Founded in 1932 and based in Seattle, Washington, Alaska Airlines is the fifth-largest U.S. carrier and a member of the oneworld alliance. It offers global connections through partners such as British Airways, Japan Airlines, and Qantas. The airline is recognized for customer satisfaction, operational reliability, and environmental responsibility.
