United Airlines Boeing 757 | Official Website

United Airlines is set to operate its longest Boeing 757 flights during the summer, offering a mixed schedule between May and December 2025. With a fleet of 61 Boeing 757 jets, United is a major player in utilizing this narrowbody aircraft, second only to Delta Air Lines. The airline's upcoming schedule reveals a variation in flight lengths, largely influenced by seasonal demand and aircraft type configuration.

The longest 757 route United will offer is a summer-only service from Newark to Stockholm Arlanda. This route, spanning 3,415 nautical miles (6,328 km), stands as both the airline’s and the world's longest nonstop passenger flight using a Boeing 757. Other notable routes include Newark to Lima, which switches to become the longest during the winter season.

United Airlines has operated flights from Newark to Lima with the 757 since 2012, following its merger with Continental Airlines. The Peruvian capital route has been served by the 757 since 1996, marking it as one of the longest-running 757 routes globally. "United has flown the 757 from its New Jersey hub to the Peruvian capital since 2012, when its integration with Continental was finished," the release states.

Another focus is United’s route from Washington Dulles to Edinburgh, which has transitioned to a year-round service. The Scottish capital has recently benefitted from increased transatlantic capacity, supported by Visit Scotland incentives and its growing recognition internationally. "The Scottish capital has seen substantial transatlantic capacity increases recently," influencing United's decision to expand the route.

Additionally, United’s domestic operations with the 757-300 variant focus on high-capacity flights rather than long-haul, reflecting a different strategic utilization compared to the 757-200. One of the longest domestic routes for the 757-300 will be from San Francisco to Fort Lauderdale, covering 2,245 nautical miles (4,158 km). It's the first time United will operate this variant on the route, with limited departures planned during the summer peak.

With varying usage between its 757-200s and 757-300s, United’s strategic approach maximizes the advantages of these aircraft types within their capacity and cost frameworks. As it navigates through different seasonal demands, United continues to leverage its extensive fleet for efficient and effective route management.
