Saudia A320 | Official Website

Saudia, Saudi Arabia's national airline, operates a fleet exceeding 150 aircraft from its main hubs at Jeddah King Abdulaziz International Airport and Riyadh King Khalid International Airport. Nearly half of the airline’s flights utilize the Airbus A320, with the Boeing 787 being the least used.

In May 2025, Saudia plans 6,829 flights with the Airbus A320, providing 963,180 seats. The A320's importance is underscored on domestic and regional routes due to its average distance of 586 miles per flight. Long-haul routes to Europe include newly launched services from Neom Bay Airport to London Gatwick, while higher-capacity A320s cover domestic and regional routes.

The Airbus A321 ranks as the second most-used aircraft, with 3,822 flights and 656,781 seats scheduled in May. With an average sector length of 583 miles, Saudia deploys the A321 on routes such as Jeddah-Dubai and Riyadh-Amman.

Saudia's fleet includes 37 Airbus A330-300s, flying 2,802 times in May. These flights provide 898,512 seats and average 1,015 miles per journey, covering routes like Jeddah to Cairo and Nairobi.

Among Saudia's largest aircraft, the Boeing 777-300ER will operate 1,732 flights in May, focusing on routes with longer average sector lengths of 3,009 miles. These include flights between Jeddah and destinations like Karachi and Los Angeles.

Saudia's 21 Boeing 787s, comprising 13 787-9s and 8 787-10s, will conduct 1,299 flights in May. The aircraft service routes such as Jeddah to Manchester and Riyadh to Bangkok, with sector lengths between 3,017 and 3,248 miles.

Looking ahead, Saudia plans to expand its fleet with orders for 128 new aircraft, including 64 Airbus A321neos, 15 A321XLRs, and 49 Boeing 787s. With the introduction of the Airbus A321XLR, Saudia aims to open new long-haul routes and modify its current operations.

Saudia is set to collaborate closely with Riyadh Air, a new Saudi airline projected to start operations in 2025. Riyadh Air will also have a fleet of more than 100 aircraft, including Airbus A321neos and Boeing 787s. Whether Saudia will focus more on hub operations at Jeddah, while Riyadh Air becomes a connecting carrier, remains to be seen.
