The National Right to Work Legal Defense Foundation has announced the launch of a national campaign, providing free legal assistance to hotel workers allegedly facing coercive practices from the union UNITE HERE. This initiative includes the release of a mini-documentary titled "The Reality of Union Bullying by UNITE HERE," which highlights claims of deceptive behavior by the union and aims to empower workers to protect their rights.

Erika, a hotel worker from San Francisco, shared her experience in the documentary, stating, “They’re supposed to protect us, but they just take our money and our voice." She indicated that union communication primarily occurred during the payroll process. This sentiment is echoed by Maria, a worker from a Chicago Hilton, who reported similar experiences of intimidation. Maria emphasized the importance of standing firm against what she described as bullying by UNITE HERE, expressing hope that her story would motivate others to take action.

Foundation President Mark Mix highlighted the organization's dedication to assisting workers like Maria and Erika, noting that their attorneys have supported numerous hospitality employees. Cases have included housekeepers, concierges, and foodservice staff across various cities, including Los Angeles, Las Vegas, and Washington, D.C.

Mix stated, “UNITE HERE officials have engaged in practices that undermine the very workforce they claim to want to protect.” He urged workers in need of support to reach out, assuring them that resources are available.
