JetBlue Airbus A321s | Official Website

JetBlue celebrated its 25th anniversary by unveiling a special livery on one of its Airbus A321s. The aircraft's design, named BlueUnity, features crew members in various roles against a sky blue backdrop. According to the airline, it "pays tribute to the airline's more than 23,000 dedicated crew members that make every flight possible."

The initiative aligns with a broader industry trend of airlines honoring their employees through special liveries. Among the pioneers was Canadian Airlines, which in the mid-1990s, painted a DC-10 with employee signatures, paying tribute during a tough restructuring period.

Another notable example is Turkish Airlines, which in 2011, adorned a Boeing 737-800 with photographs of over 15,000 employees and the tagline "Globally Yours." This design aimed to recognize the contributions of its workforce to the airline's growth.

Philippines AirAsia followed suit in 2018 with the "Allstars" livery on an Airbus A320-200, featuring thousands of staff pictures and the phrase "Dreamers pushing boundaries." Korean Air, emerging from the pandemic in 2023, decorated a Boeing 777-300ER with the words "Our Pride" and employee names to express appreciation for their contributions.

Delta Air Lines also took part in acknowledging its staff by painting "Thank You" on an Airbus A321. This initiative celebrated a $1.6 billion profit-sharing payout and recognized the efforts of its 90,000 employees. Delta CEO Ed Bastian stated, "Delta would be nothing without our 90,000 people worldwide."

Other airlines have joined in this practice. Brazilian airline TAM used an Airbus A320 to honor employees after a tragedy. American Airlines marked a Boeing 777-200 with a decal for mechanic Azriel 'Al' Blackman on his 75th work anniversary. Southwest Airlines continues its tradition with various employee tributes, including one for Colleen Barrett, the first female leader of the airline.

These custom liveries illustrate the industry's continual effort to honor those who keep operations running smoothly and efficiently.
