Qantas continues to maintain its reputation as Australia's largest airline by fleet size and destinations, both domestically and internationally. Known affectionately as the flying Kangaroo, Qantas has been operating since 1920 and is one of the founding members of the oneworld airline alliance.

The airline's Boeing 737-800 aircraft form the backbone of their domestic and short-haul international operations. While Qantas operates several routes, the direct services between Melbourne and Sydney stand out as the most popular for this aircraft type. During May, Qantas will conduct 928 flights from Melbourne to Sydney, providing approximately 161,472 seats in total.

Sydney to Brisbane is another busy domestic route for the 737-800, with Qantas operating 539 flights scheduled for May. This stretch is considered Australia's second most-traveled domestic route, linking the gateway to Queensland and its vibrant capital, Brisbane. The airline plans more than 93,000 available seats on this route.

Qantas connects numerous Australian cities with flights using the Boeing 737-800. Additional routes include the direct link between Melbourne and Brisbane and travel from Adelaide to Sydney. Adelaide, the capital of South Australia, will see Qantas schedule 245 flights each direction to Sydney.

Notably, Qantas also has a significant presence on international routes to New Zealand, particularly on the trans-Tasman services from Sydney, Melbourne, and Brisbane. In May, there will be around 150 flights scheduled between Sydney and Auckland.

While the 737-800s play a crucial role, Qantas is also planning for future expansion through Project Sunrise, which will introduce non-stop flights from Sydney to London and New York using the Airbus A350-1000ULR.
