American Airlines has announced the introduction of its new Flagship Suite seats on Boeing 787-9 aircraft, beginning with the Chicago to London route.

According to a press release on American Airlines’ official newsroom, these new suites will feature sliding privacy doors, direct aisle access, wireless charging, and a chaise lounge-style seat that reclines into a fully flat bed. These upgrades are part of the airline's broader effort to redefine its long-haul premium travel experience.

As reported by The Points Guy, the Boeing 787-9 will include 51 Flagship Suite business class seats and 32 Premium Economy seats in its updated configuration. American Airlines aims to increase the number of premium seats across its long-haul fleet by more than 45% by 2026. The redesign also features a modernized Premium Economy cabin with enhanced legroom, upgraded dining, and personal device charging capabilities.

The airline has already received the first two 787-9 aircraft equipped with the new suites and plans to add a total of 30 widebody aircraft with the updated layout by 2029. This long-term investment is intended to align American's fleet with evolving customer expectations for privacy, space, and high-end amenities.

American Airlines is headquartered in Fort Worth, Texas, and operates nearly 6,700 daily flights to more than 350 destinations in 60 countries. It is a founding member of the oneworld alliance and serves over 200 million customers annually. The airline continues to modernize its fleet and invest in premium travel experiences to maintain its competitive edge in global aviation.
