Copa Airlines has announced a new codeshare partnership with Volaris, aimed at enhancing connectivity between Mexico and Latin America.

According to Aviación al Día, the two airlines signed the agreement during the 2025 Tianguis Turístico conference in Mexico. This partnership will allow travelers to book single-ticket journeys that combine flights from both carriers, offering benefits such as checked baggage through to final destinations and coordinated scheduling. The agreement is expected to enhance air connectivity between Mexico and countries in Central and South America, with implementation scheduled for the second half of 2025, pending regulatory approval.

FlightGlobal reports that this codeshare will provide Copa Airlines access to over 40 Mexican destinations operated by Volaris. Meanwhile, Volaris customers will be able to connect through Copa’s extensive route network via its Panama City hub. Holger Blankenstein, Volaris’ Executive Vice President, said that the alliance would simplify travel for passengers across the continent and deepen commercial cooperation between the carriers. The agreement awaits regulatory clearance and is anticipated to be fully implemented by the end of 2025.

Aviacionline notes that the partnership aims to extend Copa Airlines’ reach into Mexico’s secondary cities while providing Volaris passengers with improved access to destinations in Central America, South America, and the Caribbean. The Hub of the Americas in Panama City plays a crucial role in this plan by offering one of the most efficient connecting airports in the region, characterized by short layovers and high flight frequency. This deal also supports Volaris’ broader strategy to expand its global presence through codeshare and interline agreements.

According to Copa Airlines' official Wikipedia page, it is Panama's flag carrier operating from Tocumen International Airport in Panama City. A member of the Star Alliance since 2012, Copa serves over 80 destinations across 32 countries using a fleet primarily composed of Boeing 737 aircraft. Known for its efficiency and on-time performance, Copa's Hub of the Americas model facilitates streamlined connections between North, Central, and South America.
