United Airlines Boeing 757-200 | Wikipedia

The Boeing 757 remains a significant player in the aviation industry, with several airlines still operating long routes using this narrowbody aircraft. Notably, United Airlines and Icelandair are among the carriers utilizing the 757 for transatlantic flights that connect various international destinations.

Icelandair operates one of the longest nonstop narrowbody flights from Keflavik International Airport to Portland International Airport. This route covers an average distance of 3,738 miles and is set to be replaced by Airbus A321XLR by next year. "This service is one of the longest nonstop narrowbody flights worldwide that remains in operation today," according to data from Cirium.

United Airlines also employs its Boeing 757-200 on several lengthy routes. The airline connects Chicago-O'Hare Airport to Edinburgh Airport with an average flight distance of 3,713 miles. United Airlines uses these jets for longer transatlantic services between lower-demand destinations. "This aircraft model is one of the few transatlantic-capable jets that can offer a low enough capacity profile," said a representative.

Another example is United's route from Malaga Airport to Newark Liberty International Airport, covering 3,677 miles on average. This flight caters mainly to leisure travelers seeking sunny beaches and warm weather.

United also offers a service from Newark Liberty International Airport to Lima International Airport with an average distance of 3,631 miles. Despite moderate demand, United maintains this route due to the Boeing 757's range capabilities.

Icelandair operates another long route from Keflavik Airport to Seattle-Tacoma International Airport over a distance of 3,622 miles. This allows Icelandair to maintain a comprehensive network without deploying expensive long-haul models extensively.

Additionally, United Airlines connects Chicago-O'Hare International Airport with Shannon Airport over an average distance of 3,591 miles. Shannon was Ireland's third-busiest airport in 2023 and holds historical significance as it pioneered transatlantic crossings.

Other notable routes include Icelandair’s connection between Keflavik and Denver International Airports (average distance: 3,568 miles) and United’s John F. Kennedy International Airport to Bilbao (average distance: 3,557 miles).

Finally, Icelandair links Keflavik with Orlando International over an average distance of 3,557 miles while United connects Newark Liberty with Faro at approximately 3,494 miles on average.

These examples illustrate how airlines continue leveraging the Boeing 757 for connecting distant points across continents efficiently.
