American Airlines is enhancing its in-flight entertainment options on its Boeing 787 Dreamliners. Each seat on these aircraft features a seat-back screen, setting them apart from most of the airline's domestic narrowbody fleet. In collaboration with Apple, American Airlines offers exclusive content from Apple TV+ and Apple Music. Passengers also have the option to stream their own content using WiFi packages available on board, with power outlets provided at nearly every seat.

The airline's entire 787 fleet is equipped with an inflight entertainment system by either Panasonic or Thales. Panasonic's "eX2 AVOD" system is installed on both variants of the 787s, while Thales' "Avant" system is used on newer 787-8s and will be featured on upcoming premium-heavy 787-9 aircraft.

American Airlines has recently announced new cabin experiences for its Boeing 787-9, Boeing 777-300, and Airbus A321XLR aircraft. These upgrades include Flagship Business suites offering direct aisle access and private pods with lay-flat seats, wireless charging, and Bluetooth capability. The Premium Economy experience will feature larger seats with greater recline and high-end technology.

In terms of market deployment, American Airlines celebrated a milestone by opening a 787 pilot base at New York-JFK Airport last year. The airline deploys its 787s on various routes from JFK to international destinations such as Paris, Madrid, São Paulo, Tokyo, and Delhi. Domestically, the 787 serves routes primarily from major hubs like Chicago and Los Angeles.

American's widebody fleet strategy includes focusing on its orders for the 787-9 and refurbishing its triple seven fleet. The introduction of the new cabin experience aims to provide a more tailored customer experience as part of American's competitive strategy against other major carriers like Delta Air Lines and United Airlines.
