American Airlines has launched a new service connecting Chicago O'Hare International Airport (ORD) with Naples-Capodichino International Airport (NAP). This marks the first nonstop service from Chicago to Naples, Italy. The event was organized in collaboration with the Chicago Department of Aviation and the Consulate General of Italy in Chicago.

Ben Humphrey, American's Vice President of ORD Operations, expressed pride in this new connection. "A visit to the port city of Naples has so much to offer — from exploring the ancient ruins of Pompeii to tasting pizza in the city it was created or traveling to the nearby picturesque Amalfi Coast," he said. He added that connecting Chicagoans to Italy’s third-largest city is a point of pride for American and its team members.

Chicago Mayor Brandon Johnson highlighted the significance of this milestone. “I’m proud to welcome Chicago’s first-ever nonstop service to Naples, Italy — a milestone that expands O’Hare’s international network and affirms our city’s status as a leading global gateway,” he stated. He thanked American Airlines for facilitating this connection during what is expected to be a busy summer at the airport.

Mario Alberto Bartoli, Consul General of Italy in Chicago, described the launch as more than just a ribbon-cutting ceremony. “It is truly an honor as Consul General of Italy to celebrate the launch of American Airlines nonstop service between Chicago and Naples,” he said. Bartoli emphasized that it represents a new chapter of connections between two great cities.

The daily flight will depart from ORD at 8:25 p.m. CT and arrive in Naples at 1 p.m. local time the next day. This addition brings Naples into a lineup that includes destinations like Madrid, Athens, Barcelona, Dublin, London, Paris, and Rome.

The service will use Boeing 787-8 aircraft, featuring Business Class, Premium Economy, and Main Cabin options. Passengers can expect high-end amenities including lie-flat seats in Business Class and state-of-the-art interiors.

American Airlines operates thousands of flights daily to over 350 destinations worldwide and is part of the oneworld alliance. The airline's shares are traded on Nasdaq under AAL.

The Chicago Department of Aviation oversees one of the world's busiest airport systems, including O'Hare and Midway International Airports. Together they serve over 100 million passengers annually without using local or state tax dollars for operations or improvements.
