Panasonic Avionics Corporation has announced a new agreement with Ethiopian Airlines to equip the airline's upcoming Boeing 777X fleet with its Astrova in-flight entertainment solution. This installation will be included in eight Boeing 777-9 aircraft that Ethiopian Airlines has ordered, with the first expected to enter service in 2028.

The collaboration underscores Panasonic Avionics' commitment to expanding its presence in Africa and aligns with Ethiopian Airlines' strategy of enhancing passenger experiences through advanced technology. The Astrova system promises an immersive experience featuring 4K OLED HDR10+ screens for high-definition visuals and premium audio via Bluetooth technology.

Passengers will benefit from up to 100W USB-C power at their seats, allowing fast charging of personal devices throughout the flight. Additionally, the system includes programmable LED lighting aimed at improving comfort and ambiance during travel.

Astrova was the natural choice for Ethiopian Airlines, and we are confident it will redefine our inflight offering for years to come.”

Hernan Abbes, Vice President of Global Sales at Panasonic Avionics, expressed enthusiasm about supporting Ethiopian Airlines’ growth: “We are excited to be supporting Ethiopian Airlines’ growth and vision, and are proud that our Astrova system will be an integral part of their new flagship fleet. Astrova is designed to provide an immersive and unparalleled inflight experience for passengers, and we believe it will help them deliver the highest standards of passenger service.”

Ethiopian Airlines operates flights connecting over 160 destinations across five continents and holds a pioneering position as the first African carrier to introduce various Boeing models including the forthcoming Boeing 777X.
