Hainan Airlines launches direct flights from Vienna to Chengdu

Hainan Airlines has announced the launch of direct flights between Vienna and Chengdu (Tianfu), with operations scheduled three times a week.

According to Vienna Airport, this new service connects Austria with China's Sichuan Province, enhancing bilateral ties and offering travelers a new gateway to Western China. The route is expected to bolster tourism and business exchanges between the two regions.

The Vienna–Chengdu route operates on Tuesdays, Thursdays, and Sundays. Flight HU781 departs Chengdu Tianfu International Airport at 02:45 local time, arriving in Vienna at 06:05. The return flight, HU782, leaves Vienna at 12:30, reaching Chengdu at 05:10 the following day.

The city is also a significant economic hub in Western China, particularly in electronics, IT, and biotechnology sectors. According to Vienna Airport, Chengdu serves as a key junction in China's Belt and Road Initiative, enhancing its global economic significance.

Hainan Airlines was established in January 1993 and is one of China's largest carriers. Headquartered in Haikou, Hainan Province, the airline operates a vast network of domestic and international routes across Asia, Europe, North America, and Oceania. In 2024, Hainan Airlines was awarded the 5-Star Airline Rating by Skytrax for the thirteenth consecutive year.
