According to Gulf News, Ethiopian Airlines resumed and expanded passenger services to Sharjah to meet growing travel demand between Ethiopia and the UAE. The carrier initially suspended operations in the Emirate but reintroduced services to offer passengers another alternative to access East Africa and beyond. The Sharjah route is part of the airline’s strategy to strengthen its position in the Middle East and provide more choices to diaspora and business travelers.

Ethiopian Airlines, founded in 1945, is the state-owned flag carrier of Ethiopia and the largest airline in Africa by fleet size and destinations served. Headquartered in Addis Ababa, the airline operates a global network of over 125 international and 20 domestic destinations, including routes to North America, Europe, Asia, and the Middle East. According to its official site, Ethiopian Airlines is a member of the Star Alliance and is widely recognized for operational excellence, consistently winning awards such as ‘Best Airline in Africa’ by Skytrax.
