Asiana Airlines A380 | Official Website

Asiana Airlines has announced an extension of its Airbus A380 flight schedule on the route between Seoul Incheon International Airport and Sydney Kingsford International Airport, Australia. According to aviation analytics company Cirium, the South Korean airline will now operate its A380 flights until February 2026, extending the schedule by two additional months beyond the initially planned end date of December 31, 2025.

Cirium's data indicates that Asiana Airlines will maintain daily flights on this route using its highest-capacity aircraft. The airline currently operates six A380s with an average age of 10.2 years. These aircraft can accommodate a total of 495 passengers in a three-class cabin layout: 12 in first class, 66 in business class, and 417 in economy class. Looking ahead, Asiana Airlines and Korean Air combined will have a total of 13 A380 quadjets.

Between May and October 2025, Asiana plans to use its Boeing 777-200LR widebody aircraft for the route. These planes can seat up to 300 passengers in a two-class configuration: 22 in business class and 278 in economy class. Starting March 2026, Asiana will switch to using its newer Airbus A350-900 widebodies on this corridor.

Currently, Asiana operates 15 A350-900s with an average age of 5.9 years and is awaiting delivery of another 15. These widebodies have a seating capacity for up to 311 people across three classes: 28 in business class, 36 in economy plus, and 247 in economy class.

Asiana Airlines' Airbus A380 network focuses primarily on long-haul routes from Seoul Incheon to destinations in North America and East Asia. The airline typically operates A380 flights to Los Angeles (LAX), Sydney (SYD), Tokyo Narita International Airport (NRT), Taipei Taoyuan International Airport (TPE), and Bangkok Suvarnabhumi International Airport (BKK).

It is important to note that Asiana Airlines' A380 operations are subject to change based on seasonal demand, maintenance schedules, and strategic considerations. Recently, the airline doubled its flights to Los Angeles International Airport for the upcoming winter season by replacing the A350-900 with the larger A380 aircraft.

Additionally, Asiana Airlines will resume flights between Seoul Incheon and New York John F. Kennedy International Airport starting May 30 through September 30, after last serving this route with the type in October 2019.

On May 28, Asiana will temporarily cease flying the Airbus A380 from Seoul Incheon to Tokyo Narita—currently the shortest route worldwide for this aircraft type—but expects it to return on October 1.
