Turkish Airlines has maintained its interest in adding Orlando to its list of destinations, as indicated in its recent investor relations presentation for the first quarter of 2025. This potential addition would mark the airline's 15th destination in the United States.

Orlando has been a recurring mention in Turkish Airlines' presentations since September 2022. The airline previously listed Detroit and Denver alongside Orlando as future U.S. destinations, with both routes now operational. The timeline for launching new routes can vary; for instance, Denver was mentioned in June 2021 and commenced service by June 2024.

A direct flight from Istanbul to Orlando would become the second-longest route to Orlando after Emirates' Dubai connection. Currently, other long-haul flights from Orlando include connections to Munich, Frankfurt, London Gatwick, London Heathrow, Manchester, Dublin, and Reykjavík.

Data from OAG Traffic Analyzer shows that approximately 9,000 people traveled round-trip between Istanbul and Orlando during the year ending July 2024. While this market is relatively small compared to others, it ranks as the third-busiest Middle Eastern market for Orlando after Dubai and Tel Aviv. Only Dubai currently offers a direct flight.

Any new route to Orlando would likely depend on connecting traffic through Istanbul due to Turkish Airlines' extensive global network. Key connecting destinations could include Mumbai, Delhi, Johannesburg, Cairo, Hyderabad, Ahmedabad, Bangalore, Chennai, Amman, Beirut, and Riyadh.

Despite dropping its slots at Tel Aviv Airport recently—indicating a suspension of flights there—Turkish Airlines continues expanding its U.S. network post-COVID-19 pandemic. It launched flights to Dallas and Newark in 2021; Seattle followed in 2022; Detroit began service last year; and Denver started operations in July 2024.

The airline aims to increase its U.S. destinations to 20 over time. Besides Orlando—which remains highlighted in presentations—interest has also been shown towards Minneapolis (11k travelers), Charlotte (4k travelers), and Philadelphia (4k travelers) based on travel data up until July 2024.
