Virgin Atlantic Airbus A350-1000 | Official Website

Virgin Atlantic has announced its flight routes for the Airbus A350-1000 from June to December 2025. The airline, which operates a fleet of 44 aircraft including 12 Airbus A350-1000s, will have eight routes originating from London Heathrow, four from Manchester, and one from Edinburgh.

The first Airbus A350-1000 was delivered to Virgin Atlantic in August 2019. The initial batch of seven aircraft featured a 335-seat layout. The subsequent five aircraft, delivered between 2021 and 2024, have a larger configuration with 397 seats. This summer, Virgin Atlantic will use these planes on various routes including Edinburgh to Orlando twice weekly as a summer seasonal service until October 25.

A new route from Heathrow to Cancun will begin on October 19, marking the first time this route is operated by Virgin Atlantic using the A350-1000. Historically, Cancun services were provided from Gatwick by multiple carriers before being discontinued in 2019.

Additional routes include daily flights from Heathrow to Atlanta and Delhi using both seat configurations. Flights to Lagos and Los Angeles will also see the introduction of the A350 later in the year. Notably, services between Heathrow and New York JFK will vary in frequency depending on the season.

From Manchester, notable destinations include Atlanta and Las Vegas with specific dates in June for Las Vegas flights. The airline also plans several flights per week to New York JFK and Orlando.

Virgin Atlantic previously used the A350 on other routes that are no longer active such as Barbados, Hong Kong, Johannesburg, Miami, San Francisco, and Washington Dulles. Additionally, temporary routes included Boston, Islamabad, Las Vegas, Seattle, Shanghai Pudong (which is no longer served), Tampa and Manchester to Islamabad due to increased demand during COVID-19.

Overall operations indicate that approximately 29% of Virgin's Heathrow flights will be serviced by the A350-1000 during this period. The Boeing 787-9 remains dominant at Heathrow with a larger share at 39%. Meanwhile, nearly half of Virgin’s flights from Manchester will utilize the large Airbus twinjet along with exclusive operations in Scotland.
