On International Tea Day, Emirates and Dilmah celebrated their 33-year partnership by offering a special edition gift box of Dilmah teas to customers on flights over 2.5 hours. The gift box included the Emirates Signature Tea - Dombagastalawa FBOP1, Moroccan Mint Green Tea, and Ceylon Tea with Strawberry.

First and Business Class customers in Emirates Lounges worldwide had the opportunity to enjoy cocktails and mocktails made with Dilmah tea paired with desserts. In Dubai lounges, a unique Dilmah Elixir mocktail and cocktail were served alongside coconut vanilla cake, lemon cake, and apple tart. From May 15 to 31, cabin crew provided tea pairing tips for Afternoon Tea service on flights from Dubai to the UK.

Emirates serves over 33 million cups of tea annually onboard its flights and in airport lounges globally. First Class passengers can choose from six gourmet blends including Original Earl Grey and Moroccan Mint Green Tea. Business Class offers five luxury leaf teas such as Earl Grey and Pure Camomile Flowers. Premium Economy and Economy Class provide options of Ceylon or Natural Green Tea.

Cabin crew undergo dedicated training to learn about the sustainable origins of Dilmah tea, brewing techniques, and food pairing recommendations. Suggestions include pairing green tea with seafood or sushi, black tea with beef or desserts, and floral teas like Chamomile with citrus-flavored dishes.

International Tea Day is recognized by the UN General Assembly as part of the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development to highlight tea's role in rural development and sustainable livelihoods.

Emirates' partnership with Dilmah has socio-economic benefits for Sri Lanka's economy and plantation community while promoting global awareness of tea's importance. For over three decades, family-owned Dilmah has been known for its ethical production of high-quality Ceylon Tea cultivated in Sri Lanka's central hills.

Dilmah was founded by Merrill J. Fernando who introduced ethically made Sri Lankan tea in the early 1980s under the motto 'nature’s gift of goodness.' His sons continue his legacy through the MJF Charitable Foundation which supports nutrition, education, vocational training, and more for those in need.
