LATAM Airlines is set to launch nonstop flights from Miami International Airport to Ministro Pistarini International Airport in Buenos Aires, Argentina. These services will be part of a fifth-freedom operation through LATAM's joint venture with Delta Air Lines, which holds a financial interest in the South American carrier.

The new Boeing 787 flights mark LATAM's return to the Argentine market after halting operations there in 2020. The airline plans to start daily year-round services on December 1, 2025. "Beginning on December 1, 2025, South American legacy carrier LATAM will resume its daily year-round services between Miami International and Buenos Aires," according to One Mile At A Time. The southbound flight will leave Miami at night and arrive in Buenos Aires the following morning, while the return flight will operate during daytime hours.

Initially using Boeing 787-8 aircraft for this route, LATAM intends to switch to larger Boeing 787-9 models by January 2026. Currently lacking an operating certificate in Argentina, these flights will function as fifth-freedom services under LATAM Chile's operations.

LATAM faces competition from American Airlines and Aerolíneas Argentinas on this route. Despite this competitive environment, "LATAM’s decision to reinstate its Miami International to Buenos Aires route will continue to expand the airline’s rapidly growing network from Miami," ch-Aviation reports.

The airline aims to leverage modern fuel-efficient aircraft like the Boeing 787 Dreamliner equipped with premium seating options. This move aligns with Delta Air Lines' strategic interests as both carriers aim to enhance their footprint in Latin America.

Argentina's deregulation of its aviation industry has facilitated such international routes by expanding open-skies agreements. "A route that would not have been possible without the liberalized air service agreements of Argentina’s president, Javier Milei," reflects how regulatory changes have enabled airlines like LATAM to explore new opportunities.

Delta's involvement highlights a potential market for premium travel between Miami and Buenos Aires that existing players may not fully address. While Aerolíneas Argentinas and American Airlines face challenges capturing premium demand, LATAM could stimulate interest in high-value leisure travel while meeting corporate needs with enhanced cabin experiences.
