As Canadians continue to seek sunny destinations and explore business opportunities abroad, Mexico stands out as a significant market for Air Canada. The airline operates a network of routes from Toronto, Vancouver, and Montreal, blending leisure and business travel.

Using data from May 2025 sourced from Cirium, the rankings of Air Canada's seven Mexico routes are based on average distance in miles. These routes also vary in terms of seats, available seat miles (ASMs), aircraft types, and flight frequency. This analysis provides insights into how Air Canada connects Canada with Mexico.

The Toronto to Cancun route is the busiest for Air Canada in Mexico. It recorded 144 flights using Airbus A319, A320, A321, and A330-300 aircraft. "It’s also the route with the highest total number of seats (30,520) and the highest frequency," according to Cirium data. The route generates over 49.2 million ASMs despite being the shortest at 1,615 miles (2,600 km).

Montreal's connection to Cancun is another strong performer with 80 scheduled flights offering 14,600 seats and generating 26.8 million ASMs. The route covers an average distance of 1,841 miles (2,962 km). It's particularly popular among French Canadian vacationers heading to Riviera Maya.

Toronto's link to Mexico City ranks fifth by distance but remains crucial for business travelers with its high frequency of 124 flights and a significant ASM total of over 42.2 million.

Vancouver's seasonal service to Puerto Vallarta features just ten flights but covers a long distance of 2,200 miles (3,540 km), making it a key leisure route during peak seasons.

Montreal–Mexico City maintains steady traffic with its strategic role serving Quebec's multicultural population. This route offers more than 24.1 million ASMs over an average distance of 2,305 miles (3,710 km).

Vancouver's service to Mexico City reflects solid business demand at an average distance of 2,448 miles (3,940 km). With frequent flights throughout May 2025 generating over 25.6 million ASMs.

Finally topping the list is Vancouver–Cancun at an average distance of 2,782 miles (4,476 km). Although it has only 26 scheduled flights in May 2025 it delivers impressive ASM productivity due to its length and efficient aircraft usage.

These routes highlight Air Canada's strategy balancing fleet utilization against market demands across both leisure and business segments this summer season.
