Hawaiian Airlines has recently launched a new daily service between Seattle and Tokyo (Narita), marking the beginning of an enhanced connection between the Pacific Northwest and Japan. This initiative aims to offer travelers from the Pacific Northwest more opportunities to experience the hospitality Hawaiian Airlines is known for, while also deepening cultural connections.

The airline has been offering nonstop service to Japan since 2010, fostering personal, historical, and cultural ties between Hawaiʻi and Japan. The new service seeks to extend these bonds further into the Pacific Northwest region.

In light of this development, two experienced flight attendants from Hawaiian Airlines have shared travel tips for those planning a trip to Tokyo. Reyn, a flight attendant since 2017, emphasizes the importance of packing according to seasonal weather variations in Japan. He advises visitors to research weather conditions for appropriate layering.

Yuria, who joined Hawaiian Airlines in 2016 after moving from Nagano Prefecture in Japan, highlights that exploring Tokyo on foot is ideal. She suggests bringing comfortable shoes and purchasing an eSIM for phone use. Additionally, she recommends buying a Suica card for public transportation convenience.

Both attendants agree that forgetting items should not be a concern due to Tokyo's shopping options. Yuria advises carrying cash as some places may not accept credit cards.

For those with time beyond exploring Tokyo, Reyn suggests visiting other areas such as Nagano or Kyoto via Shinkansen Bullet Train. Each prefecture offers unique experiences worth considering.

When planning an itinerary, Yuria encourages tailoring activities based on personal interests—whether it's modern culture in Tokyo or traditional experiences in Kansai.

Reyn notes that visiting an onsen is a valuable cultural experience but warns about tattoo restrictions at certain locations. He also stresses following public transportation etiquette and understanding that tipping is not customary in Japan.

Yuria suggests participating in cultural classes like wagashi making or sado tea ceremonies for deeper engagement with local culture.

Travelers are advised to embrace Japanese customs such as omiyage (gift-giving) and proper trash disposal practices during their visit.

The launch of this new route by Hawaiian Airlines represents another step towards strengthening ties between regions through travel and shared experiences.
