Japan Airlines (JAL) announced on X that it is launching a Double Mile Campaign for flights between Akita and Tokyo (Haneda) or Osaka (Itami), offering bonus miles and prize opportunities.

According to Japan Airlines' official campaign page, the "JAL Let's go to Akita" Double Mile Campaign allows JAL Mileage Bank members to earn double the usual flight miles when traveling on the Akita–Tokyo (Haneda) or Akita–Osaka (Itami) routes during the campaign period. This initiative aims to promote travel to Akita Prefecture and enhance customer benefits. Participants must register for the campaign to be eligible for the bonus miles.

In addition to earning double miles, registered participants have the opportunity to win luxurious prizes through a lottery. Prizes include round-trip air tickets and local Akita products, offering travelers a chance to experience more of what Akita has to offer. This aspect of the campaign is designed to further incentivize travel to the region.

The campaign is part of JAL's broader efforts to stimulate regional tourism and support local economies by encouraging travel to less-visited destinations like Akita. By offering additional miles and the chance to win local products, JAL aims to provide added value to its customers while promoting cultural and economic engagement with the region. Such campaigns are a strategic approach to balancing travel demand across various destinations.
