According to Copa Airlines' official announcement, the airline is preparing to resume commercial flights between Panama and Venezuela following authorization from the National Institute of Civil Aeronautics (INAC) of Venezuela. Copa Airlines said that its team is currently evaluating the schedule to be operated and will communicate the finalized itineraries through official channels once approved. This development marks a significant step in restoring air connectivity between the two countries after a suspension of nearly a year.
As reported by the Associated Press, the suspension of flights between Panama and Venezuela occurred nearly a year ago due to diplomatic tensions arising from Panama's refusal to recognize the re-election of Venezuelan President Nicolás Maduro. This led to Venezuela withdrawing its diplomatic representation from Panama and halting air travel between the two nations.
