Turkish Airlines has seen significant growth in its operations to and from the United States, carrying over 3.6 million passengers in the year leading up to February 2025. This makes it the fifth-largest foreign long-haul carrier in the US, following British Airways, Lufthansa, Air France, and Virgin Atlantic.

The airline's US traffic increased by more than 4% compared to the previous year. Cirium Diio data indicates that this rise is due to an increase in flights and available seats, attributed partly to the launch of new routes such as Denver and higher frequencies on existing routes. This expansion positions Turkish Airlines to potentially surpass Virgin Atlantic for fourth place.

Between March 2024 and February 2025, Turkish Airlines operated 14 routes between Istanbul and various US cities. The route with the highest passenger volume was Istanbul-New York JFK, with 608,000 passengers during this period. Seasonal variations were noted, with August seeing a significant increase in passenger numbers compared to January.

The average load factor for Turkish Airlines' US flights was 84.6%, with Chicago O'Hare experiencing the highest at 86.5% and Denver having the lowest at 71.4%.

Looking ahead to July 2025, Turkish Airlines plans to operate 170 weekly one-way flights from Istanbul to its US destinations, representing an increase of 11% in flights and a 14% rise in available seats compared to last year. The fleet includes Boeing 787-9s, Boeing 777-300ERs, and Airbus A350-900s.

In terms of future expansion within the US market, Turkish Airlines has identified Orlando as a potential new destination but has not specified a timeline for commencing service there. Other possible future destinations include Charlotte, Minneapolis, and Philadelphia.

"Manchester will become the airline's new longest service," indicating further international expansion efforts by Turkish Airlines.
