JetBlue has expanded its European network from Boston with the addition of two new destinations: Edinburgh, Scotland, and Madrid, Spain. The airline launched these seasonal services on May 22, with flights arriving in both cities on May 23. JetBlue now offers flights to seven European destinations from either Boston or New York.

Daniel Shurz, Senior Vice President of Revenue, Network, and Enterprise Planning at JetBlue, expressed enthusiasm about expanding European destinations for travelers from New England. He stated that the expansion makes it easier to connect to more locations across the US, Latin America, and the Caribbean.

The new routes to Edinburgh and Madrid will run until October 25. Additionally, JetBlue resumed its seasonal service from Boston to London Gatwick Airport on May 22. Other transatlantic flights planned by JetBlue include Amsterdam Schiphol Airport (AMS), Dublin Airport (DUB), London Heathrow Airport (LHR), and Paris Charles de Gaulle Airport (CDG) from Boston. From New York John F. Kennedy International Airport (JFK), JetBlue offers seasonal flights to Dublin and Edinburgh and year-round departures to Amsterdam, London Heathrow, and Paris Charles de Gaulle.

JetBlue is currently the only US-based airline flying between Boston and Madrid. Previously served by Iberia until July 2017 when Air Europa briefly operated the route before Norwegian attempted it in 2019; Iberia resumed operations using A321XLR aircraft in November 2024.

Delta Air Lines has been another operator flying seasonally between Boston and Edinburgh since June 2019 but paused during the pandemic before resuming in June 2022 with a Boeing 767-300ER.

As part of its JetForward strategy unveiled in July 2024 for sustainable profitability, JetBlue deferred $3 billion of capital expenditures through 2029 primarily for acquiring aircraft. The updated fleet plan includes taking delivery of several A321neo aircraft over coming years while maintaining financial stability.
