A potential measles exposure at Denver International Airport (DEN) and a nearby hotel has been reported by the Colorado Department of Public Health and Environment. The individual with measles arrived at the international terminal on May 13, stayed at the Quality Inn and Suites near the airport, and departed from Gate B56 on May 14.

Health officials have advised those who may have been exposed to avoid public gatherings for 21 days after exposure. Symptoms could appear through June 4. Dr. Rachel Herlihy, state epidemiologist and deputy chief medical officer, emphasized the importance of vaccination: “This situation underscores the critical importance of vaccination. Staying up to date on vaccinations and being aware of health risks when traveling are important ways to protect yourself and your community. Measles is highly contagious, and we are working swiftly to identify and notify anyone who may have been exposed. Vaccination remains the most effective protection against this preventable disease.”

Denver International Airport is a major hub, serving over 61 million passengers annually as America's fifth-busiest airport. It operates numerous domestic flights daily to major business hubs across the United States.
